Browse All TopicsI am tryng to clean install xp pro on a sony vaio that is running xp home. It is a full xp pro install disk. I know it works because it will load once windows is running but then tells me it cannot install because the version on the hd is newer than the one on the cd. The boot order is correct and all drivers are updated.

There may be a problem with the boot image on the disc. Have you tried booting from the CD on another machine?
