Hi,
I've lost touch in this :
Is it possible from my PC (or a Unix station) to find out a remote host's
MAC/ethernet hardware address?
Thought we can clear our PC/Solaris's arp table (what's the command?
arp -d ?), then ping the remote server to fill up my PC/Unix station's
arp table & do "arp -a" to see the MAC addr?
I think I did not quite get this right, appreciate some pointers/correction.
I heard different manufacturers (Sun, HP, IBM, ...) are assigned a range
of MAC addresses their NIC (network interface card) can assume.
Is there a website somewhere that tells us this?
How can we protect against people from finding out our server's MAC
address? How can we make the needed changes on our Cisco switch/
router, firewall or server to achieve this?
