Allow standard user to kill processes runing as SYSTEM account

Asked by spmears in Windows Network Security Questions, Windows XP Operating System

I am creating a locked down local user on Windows XP. But I need to elevate the user so that they are able to stop (specifficaly Kill) a process that is running as the SYSTEM Account.

We provide remote support using a instant remote support tool logmeinrescue. In order for us to change from the currentl logged in user we need to run the remote tool as a service. When we slect this command logmeinresuce runs as the system process. We have no control over whic account the system starts as. The service and remote tool should be stopped and uninstalled once the session is closed. But as the user is a standard user they do not have permission to kill the running process.Start Free Trial
