The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Selective implementation of strong password policy.

Hi,

We are planning to change our organization's password policy, but we want to do it gradually (i.e. apply the new policy to ten users at a time).

Currently many users have rather weak passwords that are very easily rembered by other users. We would like to implement a stronger password policy using group policy. We have created a new group policy according to the step-by-step procedure below:
 http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/smallbusiness/topics/networksecurity/enforce_strong_passwords.mspx

The new policy settings require strong passwords, a minimum password age, etc... We have currently disabled the new policy, because we want to make sure that only ten users at a time will be affected by the new policy. The reason is that certain users should only be asked to change their password in a few months (after we've educated them about strong passwords and after we have synchronized the network password with that of an accounting application that will only work if the passwords correspond). Other users should be asked to change their password right away. We want to work with small groups, because we have a lot of users who are not ICT-minded and we expect a lot of calls when they receive the request to change their passwords.

Our question is: how can we resolve this issue (that the new policy is bestowed on only ten users at a time)? Is it enough to select "password never expires" under the "account" tab and to select "never" under the "account expires" heading for every user's properties?

It is our intention to do this and then unselect the above user property settings for ten users at a time. Will this have the desired result?

Thanks in advance for your help!
