The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Actually this is the directory where my script is going to run :-

cd /home/'sam

Under sam i have like 50 different folders. Each of that folder contains a folder by the name of "testing" and under testing folder there are different files like .txt or .csv or etc..
So this is what i am doing. The code works but it deletes the recently created files. I want to delete the files which are 6 hrs old.

for dir in *; do
  if [ -d ${dir}/"testing" ]; then
  find /home/sam/${dir}/* -type f -mtime -1 -exec 'rm' {} \;
  fi
  done

You need to use gnu find:

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/findutils/

I'm no AIX expert, but it seems that the AIX version I'm using supports the -mmin option for find.
I'm running AIX 3.5 in a bash shell.

In any case, a workaround is to use the -newer option (if your find command supports this).

1. Create a file with the desired time stamp using the touch command.

2. Find files older than the file by using the following syntax:
find  .  ! -newer temp_file  ....

Actually i did not applied the solution you provided. But i was able to work my way around. Anyways i have one question. What i am trying to do over here is use a for loop first see for the directories which contains " test " folder. If the folder contains test folder then create the same directory structure on other remote machine. If any of that directory is not created then mail to appropriate person.

Same thing goes for scp and chmod also. this is what i am doing right now but everytime i run my script i get "done " expected. Can anyone look into it ?

Thanks

In the future I think it would be more helpful to post different questions in their own threads as opposed to continuing to keep the original question open.
In this way, you will get better responses, and those who submitted correct responses for previous solutions are properly rewarded.
I also feel that posts that are accepted as solutions should explain how the original question was resolved, as this will benefit other users who may come across the same problem.
