Very much... 744 is set on all the three files... and I've ensured they are the same files which BSD wanted. In fact there weren't too many choices either on the website from where it was downloaded, especially the BSD patch which was the only download.
The error it throws up is this...
===> jdk-1.5.0p2_6 :
Due to licensing restrictions, certain files must be fetched manually.
Please download the patchset, bsd-jdk15-patches-2.tar.bz
http://www.eyesbeyond.com/
Please place the downloaded file(s) in /usr/ports/distfiles
and restart the build.
.*** Error code 1
Stop in /usr/ports/java/jdk15.
Earlier, it mentioned the JDK files too, but that disappeared after placing them into /usr/ports/distfiles. Any thought why its not able to see the patch file...?
Thanks

Now isn't that weird. You're absolutely sure the filenames of the file that is asked for and the downloaded file are identical? No sneaky char that you overlooked?
Otherwise, are you sure the proper mask is set for the downloaded files? This applies of course if you're not building as root.
