The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Errors during installation of FreeBSD and DesktopBSD.

Tags: FreeBSD / DesktopBSD, FreeBSD / DesktopBSD, FreeBSD 7.0 RC1 / DesktopBSD 1.6, FreeBSD 7.0 RC1 --> write failure on transfer ! / DesktopBSD 1.6 --> untar compressed archive,support damaged or HD corrupted.
Installation of  FreeBSD 7.0 RC1 failed 'cause this error :

freebsd : write failure on transfer ! (wrote -1 bytes of 1425408 bytes)
unable to transfer the generic distribution from acd0

and installation of DesktopBSD 1.6 failed 'cause this :

in default  mode :

trying to mount root from cd9660 : /dev/iso9660/desktopbsd.
pid 43 (sh) : uid 0 : exited on signal 11

in safe mode :

untar compressed archive error -1 ; media damaged or hard disk corruped.

acd0 : failure -read_big hardware error asc = 0x08 ascq = 0x00
g_ufs_done () : iso9660 / desktopbsd  [ read ( offset= 1352478720, lenght = 65536)] error = 5

g_ufs_done () : md0.uzip [ read ( offset=2965438464 lenght = 4096 )] error = 5
vnode_pager_getpages = i/o read error
vm_fault : pager read error , pid 1431 (kdeinit)
