portsnap via a firewall

Asked by m0nk3yza in FreeBSD, Network Software Firewalls

Hi Guys,

I run FreeBSD 7.0 RELEASE on i386.

I'm behind a firewall, which effectively blocks cvsup (port 5999).

I've set HTTP_PROXY to my LAN's internet proxy IP.

I do need to authenticate when I connect via this proxy (not sure where to set this on FreeBSD).

Would it be possible to use portsnap through the firewall?

Is there another environmental variable I need to set for portsnap to work via the firewall.

Thank you,
