I need to uninstall pure-ftpd. I have it installed, but it is not working. when I run this command, "pure-ftpd status " I get unable to start a stand alone server.
I would like to uninstall it and then reinstall the service. I need step by step instructions on how to do a uninstall first.

I have done that command and it says that the package is not installed. now that I have removed that package, my ftp is still not working, the default service. How can I check to see if I have another service using port 21? I have on the server also proftpd but it is not running at all . Does it matter that it is installed and not running?
no it is not listed. I got nothing when

If you installed in from ports, you may run these commands:
cd /usr/ports/ftp/pure-ftpd
make deinstall
You may also try: "pkg_delete pure-ftpd" command.
Maybe it would be better to try to repair your current installation instead of removing and reinstalling pure-ftpd? In this case I suggest to delete this question, ask another one (with proper subject), and provide some messages from your logfiles.
