where do you see it?
diablo shipped in 7.2 ports has correct time zone file up to Americas/Caracas
you do not need tzupdater

by: objectsPosted on 2009-08-18 at 15:54:43ID: 25128370

why do you want to get rid of it? Its something that you just run once to correct the timezones, it has no ongoing impact on the system so deleting it will not make and difference.

Looking at solunatec's last posts - he randomly deleted some system files. I already proposed reinstall and care for future.

so 'objects' do you think its an install script running from, WebCalendar v1.0.5 (04 Mar 2007) install; I tried to delete, WebCalendar v1.0.5 (04 Mar 2007) traces but maybe I still have files from the startup script...

Wrong - installing single PHP script does not delete directories or format filesystems.
It is already pre-packaged for you:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/ports.cgi?query=webcalendar&stype=all

what else you did to break system?

by: solunatecPosted on 2009-08-19 at 07:13:33ID: 25132842

well my system date and time still work; the only thing really is that I get this error message in web calendar and squirrelmail...

by: gheistPosted on 2009-08-19 at 07:53:18ID: 25133370

Did you install webcalendar from ports?
What error messages you are getting?
I have no idea why you mention SUN Java tzupdate utility as releavant to running PHP script on a website.

by: solunatecPosted on 2009-08-19 at 10:14:01ID: 25135013

The only error message I was getting with web calendar was the one I posted which also shows up now with squirrelmail;

Strict Standards: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. Please use the date.timezone setting, the TZ environment variable or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead in /usr/local/www/squirrelmail/src/left_main.php on line 388

I thought it has something to do with tzupdate becuase I thought I loaded that with the java diablo installs I did when trying to load zend..;I guess I was wrong or maybe not I just dont remember; the first time I saw the error message was when I installed webcalendar and it would not work and kept showing me the top error message but instead of refering to the squirrelmail script it was refereing to a script of its own in which the line had something also to do with time zones but anyways I deleted all webcalendar stufff;

Please answer:
> Did you install webcalendar from ports?

squirrelmail? it is a different thing from webcalendar - please tell its version and describe how you got it.

from your last post:
Please use the date.timezone setting ... in php.ini

by: solunatecPosted on 2009-08-20 at 10:13:13ID: 25144872

no not from ports I just brought it over from another server; squirrelmail is version 1.4.17; its just confusing becuase the error message I was getting from webcalendar and squirrelmail are almost exact except for the specifics of the path and line number of each program...

by: gheistPosted on 2009-08-20 at 13:22:18ID: 25146734

Yes - your postings are extremely confusing.

Please describe your software environment:
1) uname -a
2) pkg_info -a

Please point out packages that cause problems.
Also post phpinfo() from your php installation and php.ini

THERE IS NO PROBLEM with timezones in system or in java.

i reloaded webcalendar from ports; did not do that before becuase I did not know it existed in ports but anyways getting same message; what do you mean by date.timezone in php.ini how do I adjust that?

by: solunatecPosted on 2009-08-22 at 06:58:32ID: 25158695

i mean i see the line in php.ini but what do I put there 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' ???

by: solunatecPosted on 2009-08-22 at 07:04:34ID: 25158712
