Why did my FreeBSD server crash?
My FreeBSD 7.2 server crashed with this error:
Sep 29 01:24:11 serv kernel: ad0: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA48 retrying (1 retry left) LBA=1297757535

What could be causing this? It seems to be under heavy load. Is it a hard-ware issue?
Also, how can I make the server automatically reboot if the above does occur. It simply became unreachable.

It probably is hardware related, disk going offline isn't a regular feature.
