FreeNAS "mkdir" "permission denied"

I have a freeNAS server. I'm trying to make a directory called "mysql" under /var/db however I keep getting "permission denied". My user type is "administrator". If I try to chmod 770 the directory I get this error: "operation not permitted". Also if I try to chgrp 770 for that directory to group "admin" I get the same error: "operation not permitted".


Anybody knows how I can fix these problems?

Hi,

Freenas is notorious for these type of permission issues. I creates its own users and does not allow the creation of groups and it has its own groups. These issues with FreeNAS is currently can not be solved.

I'll suggest you to to OpenFiler if you want tou use your NAS with Samba here:
