It should have been asked in more relevant areas... But they tend to not respond. Like Enterprise Desktop Management etc.
Returning to original question -
What input you have - like "msu file"
What target are you trying to reach - like product X installed on 100 desktops and 5 servers
You have multiple options:
1) Script installers - like 7zip with embedded installshield with embedded msi file... - you have to script one outside, probably repacking etc
2) Script user interface - record script in AHK, compile it and pack with winzip or 7zip into single file, then tell user to not touch mouse and keyboard while installing.
3) there are enterprise distribution products that models software package installation and records registry changes, installed files, and creates distribution scenario - great with volume licensing.
Assume solutions cover 80..95% of installations and you will have to manually intervene with rest.
It is not enaugh to have Auto IT installed in order to record keystrokes
You need to install scite editor as well
You can download SciTE4AutoIt3.exe from here:
http://www.autoitscript.co
After that you can press Alt+F6 in order to start the Recorder as described here:

Here you will find that

It has very little to do with areas you specified. m/autoit3/ downloads. shtml download/
owsScript/ msifiles.m snw
AutoIT is still alive: http://www.autoitscript.co
I prefer AutoHotkeys - scripts in text files, supports timers and conditional inputs (when named window appears).

If you look to script MSI:

cab sfx and installshields have command line options to - pass /? or -? to command line. usually one installer is wrapped inside another, so there is a bit of trickery to get them installing, but result is consistent once you get it working.
