Solaris 10 UFS / SAN RAID1+0 Strip size - alignment

Asked by SBK1972_uk in Sun Solaris, Unix Operating Systems, BSD Unix

Tags: Solaris, SAN, Stripe size, filesystem

Hi. My san guy has asked me what size I want my RAID1+0 stripe size. He mentioned something about in Windows where you can align the filesystem block size, to the SAN's storage strip size, to increase performance.  Can anyone explain this to me ?
In the past, Ive just attached storage served from the SAN, label, newfs, and away I go.  Should I be newfs with adhoc alterations to the new filesystem, relating to the stripe size used in the creation of the RAID1+0 array within the SAN ?

Im a little confused, so if anyone can help with advice, education regarding strip sizes within SANs, and how it relates to the solaris filesystem, I would be ever so grateful.
