I just remembered something else; If your system is set to use DST automatically, it's going to jump the "time" forward on the first Sunday in April as well, so you'll need to put the clock _back_ an hour then.
What the DST patch does is update the "tztab" file that controls when DST come into effect; In fact, it doesn't change the underlying System time (as `date` does`), it justs _displays_ the time differently, depending on your TZ variable setting.
You can update the tztab file yourself, either to change the date that DST comes into effect or just to remove the "rule" for 2007 so your change with the `date` command is the only change. See:
