Is there a command to sync home folders for scripting?

We have many users who are using OS X 10.4.11 Tiger and are connecting to an OS X Panther server via LDAP. We have configured the users to use portable home directories on the machines and to sync their desktop and document folders regularly to the server for backups. Right now however, since the user's MUD folders for Entourage are stored in their Documents folders, I want to change how the sync process works. Instead of automatically syncing everytime there is a change, I would like to script this to manually sync the folders at login and logoff. Is anyone aware of the cli command to initiate the "sync home now" process?
