MAC Lockup problem

I have a mac mini with OS X 10.4.11.  I am trying to run it as a server.

About once every 72 hours The mouse icon turns into a spinning color wheel and the mac becomes unresponsive.   I have to do a hard power-down to recover.  Once recovered it works fine until the next lockup.

I don't know where to begin to debug and solve this problem.
