My MacBook Pro is getting slower and slower

Lately my MacBook Pro has taken forever to boot up.  The hard drive doesn't seem to be taxed at all.  At times it takes me up to 15 minutes just to login.  Even when it finally boots up, at times it takes quite a bit of time to open some programs.  Has anyone seen this behavior before?  

MacBook Pro, Tiger 10.4.10 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM 2.16 Intel.
