Trouble installing SCO OpenServer 5.0.5. Need help BADLY.

Our client is running an older version of a program called MAS 90 on a SCO OpenServer v. 5.0.5 system.  The system crashed after a power outage.  The prime suspect was the motherboard which was manufactured shortly after the Norman invasion of 1066 AD.  Client has no choice but to upgrade immediately.

There are several problems.

In order to recover the financial data from the MAS90 accounting program, we canabalized a newer machine from our shop, added an Adaptec 2930 Ultra SCSI card and installed client's hard drive.  Our hope was that the system would simply boot and that the Unix operating system would self-configure to adjust to the new hardware.

The following error prompt occurs when we try to boot:

                                           ============================

addcore:  CONFIGURATION PROBLEM -Memory segment 16m-480m/s/n overlaps segment 491456-480m

Loading kernal hd(40)unix .text

addcore:  CONFIGURATION PROBLEM -Memory segment 490076k-480m/s/n overlaps segment 491456-480m/p

Memory error loading kernel hd(40)unix .text

Boot

:

                                         =================================

If we then hit "ENTER",  we get 4 more memory address overlaps  after which we get a prompt that says: Sizing memory, followed by 6 lines of dots ... followed by a repeat of the original error message (see above).

The system is an AMD, about a 1.8 GHz processorm with 512 MB of DDR400 RAM.

I've gone into setup and disabled everythingthat might be using IRQs (modem, sound, COM and parallel ports) in an attempt to get past the memory overlap problem.  All without success.

Our goal is to transfer the MAS90 data to some other form of media in order to import it into an upgraded, windows-based MAS90 installation.

By way of background (comic ... or tragic relief) our clients last data backup was 2 years ago.  All their billing, receivable and payable data is on this 1.008 GB Seagate hard drive.  Is there a lesson there?

Hope someone can give me some guidance and advice.

Thanks
