Browse All TopicsHi all, I'm trying to execute a script in a cron job using an if statement. The if statement checks to see if Oracle is running on the server. However, it keeps executing regardless of what it finds. I want my script to execute only if it finds the response. My current cron job looks like:
* * * * * if (ps -eaf | grep ora_pmon_dbinstance | grep oracle); then csh $HOME/script.csh; fi >> $HOME/scriptrun.log
If I do not have the instance of Oracle running, for example, if ora_pmon_dbinstance was changed to ora_pmon_doesnotexist, it will still execute the script. How can I get it to only execute when it finds that instance? Thanks.
