Bruce Gust

Am I installing things in the correct folder?
1) In a WAMP environment, you have a root directory that you have to use if you want to wrote any kind of PHP code. In other words, I can’t write C:/docs/some_doc.php and expect it to render correctly. With MAMP, it’s easy to assume the same thing. Why, then, am I installing Symfony in my “bruce” folder?
Based on the tutorial (http://symfony.com/legacy/doc/jobeet/1_4/en/01?orm=Doctrine), this is where I’m putting everything, but it’s not where I have my browser pointed when I’m attempting to look at a file.
I know this is bordering on a stupid question, but I want to understand WHAT I'm doing and not merely THAT I'm doing it.
Thanks!
