Sco Unix 5.0.6 , Adaptec 3210s, Installation not recognizing a Raid 5 set.
I have an older server with an adaptec 3210s raid controller, with a Raid 5 drive setup. I have installed a version of Ubuntu Server on the drives and the drives and controller work fine.
My problem is I am trying to install SCO Unix 5.0.6 and when I do, the system comes up with the error that "WARNING: hd: no root disk controller was found". A Boot-Time Loadable Driver may be required.
The person who originally built this server back in 2003 had left instructions to add the line: defbootstr link=dpti5 to the boot prompt. I also added the lines Sdsk=dpti5(0,1,0,0) after researching online and that doesn't allow the OS to recognize the raid 5 drive.
I went on adaptec's website and downloaded the latest SCO driver and that didn't do anything.
The only thing different that I am aware of is the motherboard was replaced in 2007. Several drives have been replaced through out the years but I do not see how that could have affected the os recognizing the drives.
The raid controller shows HBA:0 Channel:1 ID:0 Lun:0.
I am not the greatest with the Unix OS so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Because what I did worked.
the defbootstr should not be needed at install time. Maybe the installers instructions were for recovery from an emegency boot/root set.
