I cannot ping a SCO unix host accross a site-to-site hardware VPN.

I've set up a site-to-site VPN using two new NETGEAR FVG318 VPN Routers. both sites have new, identical ADSL service with 6Mb down/512Mb up speed. Both sites have static public IP's. I set up the IPSec VPN tunnel as follows:
Site1 - LAN(10.20.17.0/255.255.255.0) - FVG318(LAN IP=10.20.17.1) , (WAN IP=xx.xxx.77.9) --
Site2 - LAN(192.168.124.0/255.255.255.0) - FVG318(LAN IP=192.168.124.1), (WAN IP=xx.xxx.77.33

The SCO Unix box is on Site1 with a LAN IP of 10.20.17.70. This is the only server and clients are either Windows 2000 or XP. The VPN is up and running but I am not able to ping the SCO Unix box on Site1 from a client PC on Site2. I am able to ping the Site1 router(10.20.17.1), client PC's and a jetdirect print server on Site1 from PC's on Site2. The SCO box responds to ping only from PC's on Site1 but not from PC's on Site2.
