Unix Command to Check the Speed of the Unix server Network Card

Hi, I have 5 Unix Servers. I just need to get the speed of each network card on each Unix server.

Could someone tell me the command to display the NIC card network speed it's using? For example, 10MB, 100MB or 1GB? Thanks!

are all your servers run solaris? on solaris you run as root

ndd -get /dev/interface

e.g.

ndd -get /dev/eri

kstat your_device | grep ifspeed
for example:
If your device is hme0, then use:
kstat hme:0 | grep ifspeed

oklit, what command do I use to display my device? I'm not Unix savvy. Sorry.

ifconfig -a

Oklit/omarfarid,

I entered the ifconfig -a command and it did return my device info.

i then entered the following: kstat ce0:1 | grep ifspeed

it didn't return any errors but it didn't return any NIC speed data either. it didnt display anything. just took me back to the dos prompt.

am I missing something?? See attached screen print of the commands and output and let me know what  you think. I'm on SUN Solaris. Thanks!

ce0:1 is virtual interface. Physical one is ce0. So you should use: "kstat ce:0 | grep ifspeed"

Ok oklit, my IFSPEED shows as: 1000000000

Does that equate to 1GB NIC speed??

Yupp. It looks that your NIC is 1Gbps.
