We have Solaris Ver 7.
In CDE-login for any user, .profile (local)is not executed Why ? any help in this regard will be great.
Also if possible how to run local profile thru crontab ?

Thanks for your comment, yes i am refering to $HOME/.profile
We have tried un-commenting the said line ie DTSOURCEPROFILE=TRUE and tried to login thru CDE, but the variables we set in .profile are not set.
Whereas when we login into "root" and
su - <user> the variables are set. (.profile is executed)
First, the DTSOURCEPROFILE have to be true, so leave it that way.
then, .profile is only read by sh and ksh. Is that one of the shells users have as login shell ?
Is the .profile readable for the user ? Check permissions.
Let the user log in, open a window and check the variables with set or env ( depending on type).
Let the user execute a read of the .profile like this:
# . ./.profile ( note the first dot, its the "run command)
is there any errormessages ? Did the variables set ?
If so check the errorlogs on the users .dt directory.
There is start and errorlogs available.
(I assume you know that you could set variables that everyone needs in the systemloginfile /etc/profile )
So try this first

Thanks for your valuable input,
As you mentioned we have made the DTSOURCEPROFILE=TRUE un-commented from .dtprofile. and
checked the permission for .profile and it was with (rw) and added the permission of execution (x) but still when loged thru the CDE (Common Desktop Environment) it does not set the variables.
But it does run sucessfully with manual run command as given by u (. ./.profile).
Also we check the logs at .dt it does not have any error msg in log.

since in hurry to install the Oracle we temp went further with manual run and did not try with /etc/profile
Now we have another new problem arised while installing the Oracle. ie. When we excuted the oracle to create dbf,rollback,indexs... on raid filesystem. We found that battery of Raid has expired. We have storage A1000, we changed the battery and re-instated the expiry date with raidutl -c <device> -r command, rebooted the system but Unfortunately the device could not mount or not seen. Why ?

I guess you are refering to users $HOME/.profile
If you look in the users .dtprofile the last line will
say "DTSOURCEPROFILE=True".
Make sure this line is not commented out.
