Problem with slow reset on Telnet login

When a user logs onto solaris 7 server (using telnet), and enters an incorrect user name or password the system takes approximately 30-40 seconds to reset the connection and redisplay the logon prompt again. Is there a way shorten the time it takes to redisplay the logon prompt after a failed logon?
