- You need access to the remote server and a secure one. For that you need sshd to be running on the remote server. You need ssh client on your system.
- You need to establish a trusted connection to execute remote command.

- You can then run remotely the hostid command and capture the output to a file:
ssh user@remotehost 'hostid' > remote_host_id
