Problem with filesystem on solaris 10(poor i/o performance).Orcle is installed under that particular filesystem

we have a poor I/O performance with one of our file system on solars 10.oracle is installed under that particular file system and it is running from that filesystem

when i run iostat to check the disk performance.it constantly shows high reads,writes,svc_time.Also % time disk busy is really high.

This particular file system is mounted from external disk array.

Here is my questions:-

(i)which one is causing high I/O...is it oracle or because of external disk array(A100)

(ii) is there any way to check disk array performance.

(iii) is they any way to increase disk i/o by setting any oracle parameter.

(iv)what is aynchronous i/o .is this enabled by default.what is the advantage of asynchronous i/o ..if we enable asynchronous i/o does it increase the filesystem performance.

(vi)i heard something about direct i/o enabling...how shall we enable direct i/o in solaris.

Please Help here.
