Ok. We had one of the server out side of our office network which will talk to the peoplesoft DB and which in turn would talk to our application server and the application server to our internal Oracle DB the application server is a local zone so I had to make a ruleset to allow the 1521 port to aloow backtrace i.e. there were random ports involved in this. so something like this
pass in quick proto tcp from <ip address> port=1521 to any port > 1024 group 188
that solved the issue and the ETL load was completed without any hassle.
