I use English

Browse All TopicsI have a vista machine that I use to connect to Solaris 10 to run X applications. Most of my apps are not a problem, I can run xclock, xcalc, sas etc, but I can't launch an xterm. Since other programs work, I know the display server Xming and the DISPLAY are set correctly. I also have no problem lanuching xterms from linux--only Solaris 10 is having the issue.
Here is the error:
~ >/usr/openwin/bin/xterm
font missing: KSC5601.1992-3 for Window
font missing: TIS620.2533-0 for Window
font missing: ISO8859-6 for Window
font missing: ISO8859-8 for Window
font missing: SUN.UNICODE.INDIA-0 for Window
X Error of failed request: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 20 (X_GetProperty)
Atom id in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 106
Current serial number in output stream: 106
If I run this from cygwin (startx), it gives the exact same font errors but the xterm comes up:
~ >/usr/openwin/bin/xterm
font missing: KSC5601.1992-3 for Window
font missing: TIS620.2533-0 for Window
font missing: ISO8859-6 for Window
font missing: ISO8859-8 for Window
font missing: SUN.UNICODE.INDIA-0 for Window
(then it works in cygwin)
What might be causing this in Xming? Xming is generally less flaky in Vista than cygwin, so I'd like to use it.
Thanks,
