wireless will not connect

I have a netgear router 614 I connected my laptop to it and the network is password secured. I entered the password and it will not connect. It connect to an unsecured network. I re installed everything.

Hello drronaldg,

You need to add the MAC address of your wireless interface OR disable MAC address filtering on the router.

I was able to access that now it goes to automatic settings

after working on my laptop all day I am back to the beginning. My wireless will connect to an unsecured network but not to my secure network even though I put in the correct password. I did try your suggestion with the mac address did not work. thank you anyway.

What security do you want to set it at WEP or WPA?

You can specify the best network to connect (preferred network)

view your available wifi then click on the name of your wifi and enter the passcode.  WEP password are long.  Use the Key1 passcode.  I would type it in notepad (and then save the file for future use) then copy and paste it.
