Zone: Windows XP Operating System

The SR goes through all the motions but after rebooting it says no changes were made to the system. I have tried ~10 different restore points. I can create points. My XP cd doesn't seem to have a "repair" option as recommended in other posts. I've looked through many other questions posted here but none seem to have quite the same problem. I have looked at many of the MS Knowledge Base sheets with no luck. It is starting to look like I may have to reinstall the OS, which I'd rather avoid if possible. Any suggestions?
