Linux Logon Failure (Authentication failed)
Hi
First things first. I am very new to linux. I use Redhat 9.
I have a small network with a Windows 2003 Server and a Linux box. In trying to access resources on the 2003 from linux, and failing so far, I have messed up some setting on the linux machine.
Everytime I want to log on I get the error Authentication failed. It does not matter which user name i use, including root. The one setting where i messed about just before this problem started was in the Authentication settings. I choose kerebos and in the options for kerebos i filled in some information about the 2003. I did this to see what entries i will get in 2003 security event log, to help me figure out how to connet the linux to the 2003.
I think this is where the problem now lies. Is it possible to connect to the linux from a rescue shell (ie. the one that comes with the redhat 9 dist.) and edit some files somewhere to fix this problem?

Windows access to Linux data means that you'll need to set up Samba on the Linux system. And since you have a w2k system you'll want to make sure that your RH 9 box is up to date w/respect to the published errata (see http://www.fedoralegacy.org). When setting up Samba please remember that you'll need to create SMB auth info for each Linux user with smbpasswd.
To access data residing on the 2k box you can use mount or smbmount to mount a share, or smbclient to do FTP like transfers.

Can you maybe let me know where I can find more information on the net on how to make the 2003 and the linux be able to access each others shares.
