Help ! GRUB has GRABBED my MBR (i think)
***i used Partition Magic 8 to delete all partitions on an old linux HD, with a view to starting afresh.
then created a few new partitions and rebooted, but every time the boot gives an old GRUB > prompt.
How do i get rid of that please ? or what command will GRUB respond to ? why didnt pm8 delete it anyway ?

actually i wouldnt mind using GRUB (if i knew how), to jump to different distros i could put in different partitions.
is the procedure for doing that easyish ? many thanks :)

***thanks Slayer, will do the /mbr and also look at GAG.
does GAG need to be put in a small partition at the beginning of the drive ?
or will it load itself into MBR. does it contain a list of instructions how to operate it ?
***wesly : that old problem you were helping me with seemed to be caused by SUSE9.2 not liking
the LAN chip on the ABIT kv8pro. so ive changed the whole mobo to MSI k8tneo,
and suse now gets thru eth0 ok.

GaG will install itself in the mbr if I'm not mistaken, i think the info about it is on the front page...I choose to use mine via floppy because I have hot swappable drives and I install a different distro of Linux each week :)
Use XP to create a DOS boot floppy. And boot from the DOS floppy and run
fdisk /mbr
to remove grub from mbr.
