ftp

how to set the ftp session last for a longer period?
now, my ftp disconnect itself every 5 minutes, and it is too short!!

at the ftp> prompt enter the command:

idle 600

to give yourself 10 minutes (600 seconds).

syntax:

idle <no. of seconds>

if i am root of the server, can i set this value in the configuration file?
What ftp server are you using?  You will be able to set the timeout in its config file.
