Thanks for the tips. &nbsp;It got me looking in the right place. &nbsp;All I had to do was add the following line to /usr/samba/smb.conf<br />

I was going through the GUI (i.e. 'foot(or start menu) - Server Settings - More Server Settings - Samba) &nbsp;That is where I was adding shares and users. &nbsp;There is also a server configuration protion.

When I open up Samba (GUI) I changed the server settings &quot;security&quot; tab to authenticate using 'user'. &nbsp;But when the server reboots, or even if I close Samba and go back into it it defaults back to SHARE and I am unable to connect to it from my XP box.<br />
