Windows 98 shutting down
Two questions here.
1) I have a user that thier computer running Windows 98 just shuts down a various time. Sometimes even while typing. I checked for viruses and the like but found nothing. Any clue?
2) Most of the Windows 98 machines I support do not shut down when they are told to. They will sit indefinately ate the "Windows is shutting down" screen and never actually turn off. I'm wondering if this is a symptom of a bigger problem. Any ideas?
I'll give points to people who answer either question. And if you have both post a bump and I'll award that one too.
Thanks

2. make sure you close all applications first and that the computer is not doing anything, then close down.
1. go to control panel and look at the power settings, make sure all is set to never to see if this problem perwsistes or not,
whats on the computer?
is this part of a network?

Ok I replaced the PS on the suspect PC and it did nothing to aleviate the situation.
I know the new PS is good. Took replaced it with the one on my comp and the "bad" one works fine.
Any other clues?
As for the shutdown issue. I went and enabled fast shutdown on the msconfig menu (the dead opposite Windows told me to do) and it worked like a charm.
I'll get everyone who gave me the links to MS some love for the direction.

Can you shutdown your window in safe mode?
If Yes, then there is, at least, task causing the kernel to suspend.
