Bootvis fails with message: "Number of physical drives in the trace file is 0."
I've used Bootvis in the past and it has been useful. Now, however, when it completes a trace I get the error message: "Number of physical drives in the trace file is 0. Trace file has invalid system configuration information." Then Bootvis exits. How can I fix whatever the problem is so I can use Bootvis? Thanks.
Info:
PC: Dell
OS: XP Pro SP2
Bootvis v1.3.37.0
Hard drives: 2 Western Digital. Device Manager says they're working properly.
Thanks

Apparently Bootvis doesn't work too well with SATA drives.. Are the drives you are using IDE or SATA?
Ahh found it... already asked here:

If you have SP1 this might apply?

Thanks, everybody, but:
1) They're both IDE drives.
2) That was my EE question, too. Installing SP2 didn't help.
3) No raid.

I went back to 1.3.36 and it does work. I was running it before and it always says, "Warning: disk write caching not enabled" (or something like that), although write caching is enabled. Well, at least 1.3.36 runs, though it doesn't seem to help boot times. I learned a couple of somewhat interesting things along the way:

Thanks!

Mmmm it's a shame you didn't sort it out, but i'd say if Microsoft did still support it it'd be fixed eventually..
Thanks for the points, but I didn't really give you an answer, or at least not one that you had already come to so you can ask for a refund if you like! = )
