Recover Offline File in Windows XP Pro

Hi,

I need to recover a file from a user of mine now here is what happened.
The user was setup on her laptop for offline file synchronization to my file server which was just set to a normal share on the windows 2000 server.
But over the weekend past I have upgraded my whole network add 6 new server including a new PDC as well as a file server.

My previous domain had Windows NT Server 4.0 pdc and the fileserver was a Windows 2000 with the share called \\servernam\users\user

Now when I rejoined the users computer the domain it obviously created a new profile on the local laptop I can click on view offline files and see that it says there was changes made to the local copy of the file. Now I need to retrieve the file from the laptop and transfer it to the users new share on my new server now bear in mind the old server has been decomissioned.

What I have done on my new server which is 2003 I setup a dns name which matched my old servername and pointed the ip to my current servername which it did succesfully. So after flushing and re-registering the DNS on the server I was able to ping the new server on the old ones name with a succesfull reply although synchronization still failed and user and file shares match.

I also set the following new keys in my servers registry with no effects

HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>LanManServices>Parameters with a DWORD value DisableStrictNameChecking and a value of 1

HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Control>LSA and a DWORD value of DisableLoopBackCheck and a value of 1. And even after this I can't synchronise so I need to recover it locally.

I then found out that the local copy of offline files are stored in windows xp under C:\Windows\CSC I have changed the attributes to access this folder but it is all *.tmp files with no meaning to me.Is there any way for me to decrypt these files?.

Is it possible to recover the document locally?.

Have you tried:
From the explorer window go tools ... folder options ... offline files ... view files
This shows your local cache of files - if you've only got tmp files in there then it sounds like you've only got tmp files synced :<

I will try this when the user is back from her business trip in 2 days thanks a million typical microsoft you have to bribe someone to find right article and none of their technies even know what they have :)
Oh, and DO NOT let the user plug into the network. If something wacky happens due to the synchronization missing a server, you wouldn't want the OS to remove the offline files.
