Windows 2003 Domain Controller and troubleshot

A client could ping to the DC but when the user tried to change the password it said that the DC could not be contacted. I tried to ping from the client to the DC and its working. Any idea what would be the reason for this?

What should I do to troubleshot this? any recommeded steps?

i've ran into similar problems and i removed them from the Domain and readded them and it seemed to clear up the problem.
First step.  Check your DNS.

Please post your DNS settings from the Domain Controller(s) and the workstation that had the error.  Most problems like this turn out to be DNS related - and in my experience, 4 out of 5 people who say DNS is correct turn out to be mistaken, so please, humor us and post your DNS.  (IPCONFIG /ALL from server(s) and workstation(s))

Yes it is the DNS server isssue.
Interestingly, if let say I put only one DNS server (which is also the DC) its working but I put the external DNS server as the secondary DNS server its stop working and keep saying that the Domain controller can't be reached.
