Cannot View Source in IE

I have difficulty when trying to view source. Everytime, when i click on the view source, it just like nothing happening. I've tried IE 5.0, with SP1 and SP2, still doesn't work. Then, I upgraded to IE5.5 SP1, but the problem still exists.

When it happen for the first time, I can just solve it by repairing it, but now there's no way to do it. I've follow some of MS Article such as Q154168, Q179829 and Q203592.

Pls help.

Do you know whether or not the page you are trying to view the source code for is an Active Server Page?  If so, IE cannot display the source code for it.  Also, if the page has ActiveX controls on it, IE cannot display the source code for these either.  Hope this helps.

I don think this is the case.  I've tried with other machine and I can view source.  It's the problem of my machine.  No matter what ext, i still can't view it.

thanks
If that is the case, it leads me to believe that something may be wrong with the association that launches NOTEPAD when you view source code.  Try associating another editor (such as WORDPAD) using the registry tweak in the following article:

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/774/

This may help.

I have tried that, but yet it is still not working.
locate the following location in your regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Default HTML Editor\shell\edit\command

set the default string value to

C:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe %1

i dont know the location of your notepad from win200. so it is advisable for you to check it

the location of windows2000 is at \winnt\notepad.exe, i've tried your method, but still it does not work.
sorry i forgot something add in this ettings as well in to your regsitry look for this location as well. Paste the file below into your notepad and save it as notepad.reg. REmember the extension must be reg not txt.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Default HTML Editor\shell\edit\command]
@="C:\\WINNT\\NOTEPAD.EXE"

run the reg file. Rember to change the settings that i have commented earlier.

Regards

Have you been helped here, or still need help?

Check WindowsUpdate for patches/fixes and apply those pertinent to your environment.

Clear your browser's cache (temporary internet files including offline content and history files).

Make sure you have an HTML editor assigned as follows:

ie - tools - internet options - programs.

Listening further.
