DNS problems

I have one window 2000 server and one client 2000 window professional with Linksys router. Everything works fine except DSN. I went to DSN server, and set up forward Look up zone. my computer domain ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com
Then, I went to http://www.secureserver.net/default.asp?prog_id=allstarcreative where I got my web domain www.cybernetworksystem.com
and entered ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com. It sent my message: this is not regisered name server...Do you know what wrong? Actually, I already set up Active Directory, and everything works fine.

Hello,
-What exactly do you want to accomplish..
-Do you want wwww.cybernetworksystem.com go to your webserver ?
-Or do you want your DNS server to be the internet dns server for www.cybernetworksystem.com  ?

I see these 2 DNS servers as authoritative for your domain, cybernetworksystem.com:

cybernetworksystem.com  nameserver = NS4.ZONEEDIT.com
cybernetworksystem.com  nameserver = NS1.ZONEEDIT.com

are you trying to register your home Win2k DNS server as authoritative for homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com?  If that's the case, you'll need to request that both ns1 and ns4.zoneedit.com delegate homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com to your home Win2k DNS server.  Before that, you'll also need to register your home Win2k DNS server as a host (A record) in the cybernetworksystem.com.

Another solution is to just replace ns1 and ns4.zoneedit.com from being authoritative for your domain with your home Win2k DNS server.  By doing this, your home DNS server will be authoritative for zone cybernetworksystem.com and below.  In other words, you'll be fully maintaining your own domain name resolutions at home.

matt023, I done exactly what you said to register your home Win2k DNS server as authoritative for homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com. However, whan I typed
homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com to replace NS4.ZONEEDIT.com, it said it is not valid registered server. Why?

By the way, is it necessary to install Active Directory in order to make my DNS working? Actually, I already installed and just want to know the answer.

Ricky
first register an A record (host record) for ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com mapping to its IP address in the cybernetworksystem.com zone.  Then replace NS4.ZONEEDIT.com with ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com.

you should also remove NS1.ZONEEDIT.com after you've done the tasks above.  ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com will then become solely authoritative for cybernetworksystem.com and its sub-domain(s).  Leaving in NS1.ZONEEDIT.com will result in inconsistency since NS1.ZONEEDIT.com doesn't have all the zone(s) and other resource records that ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com has.

One last thing, since ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com will then become authoritative for cybernetworksystem.com, all resource records registered at the zone on NS1 and NS4.ZONEEDIT.com (ie: www) must be created on  ns.homeoffice.cybernetworksystem.com.

You don't need Active Directory in order to make DNS work.  AD and DNS are completely different technology.  However, you need DNS in order to make AD work.  AD is dependent on DNS, but not vice versa.
