Uninstall directx 9

I recently installed DirectX 9 on my windows 2000 server computer and think it may be causing problems. Every service and program works perfect except that no games will work at all, it also will not let me uninstall games either via add/remove programs or through the games native uninstall feature. Does anyone know how to uninstall DirectX 9 from a windows 2000 machine? I have found apps that will do it for XP, but not 2000. also, could this be a windows installer problem? since it seems to only effects games I am thinking this is not the case

Did you have the final release of direct x or the beta version because if you had the beta version you might want to try installing the final version of direct X 9 first to see if that works

also this program reports to do the same as the first

I tried the directx approach and it did not remedy my situation, I tried disabling my sound card and games will work perfect without the sound (drivers are up to date). I tried taking out the sound card and using the MB's on-board sound, but it did the same thing as the PCI card did, if i disable it, it works fine, enabled - everyhting works fine except games in which it causes the computer to blue screen any suggestions?
I am going to give nwmsugrad the points since he did answer my original question, even though it did not turn out to be the problem. Ignore my previous post, I will rephrase the question in a new post
Drizzt, you found a DIRECT X 9 uninstaller for winXP? You got a link? I can't remove it at all. And i can't find Direct X 9 final. I downloaded direct x 9.0A and its horribleeeeE.Thanks if anyone can help.
I had the same problem and thought also it was DirectX 9 that caused the problem, but when I installed the newest video drivers of my videocard the problem was solved.
The problem is the same problem that has plagued the gaming community since DirectX first came out.

Until the vendors of your hardware have drivers ready for the latest version of DirectX, you can be pretty sure that at least one piece of your hardware is not going to work with it.

Like any piece of new software, it is always wise to wait until the bugs sent out in the "release" version are dealt with. I know few, if any, large companies who upgraded to Windows 98 when 95 still worked fine, or to Win2K when NT 4 still did the job.

That said, there are justifications for keeping up with the latest operating sytems and software, and if it is worth the cash outlay and the hassles of bugs and so on, then by all means go for it, but it is, as always, your choice.

One last question though, why are you playing games on a server Drizzt?
