Transfers User Accounts from NT4 to Windows 2000

Hi All

I'm planning to replace our NT4 server (NT46a/StandalonePDC) at work with a new server (W2K). If I can extract the user account info to a CSV file, how does one import to Windows 2000 Active Directory? Any there any easy-to-use (and free) tool that I can download?

Regards,
Simon

The easiest way for exporting and importing is probably addusers.exe from the Resource Kit.

If you don't have the resource kit, but a csv file with your user info, you can use csvde.exe and ldifde.exe to import them into AD:

Or you can upgrade your PDC to a W2k AD Controller:

The easiest and most painless meathod would be to upgrade the existing NT PDC to Win2k.  Then build your New machine to be a Domain Controller in the existing domain.

You will then have to move the FSMOs from the original to the New server.

Hope this helps.
