How do I delete old Domain Controller?
Does anybody know how I can remove an old domain controller from my active directory? The server died, so I am not able to do a dcpromo on it.

On other DC, run AD user and computer, in domain controller select which machine want to remove on the AD. Then press delete.
If you getting repetitive errors in the event viewer due to everything trying to synch with a non existant server then your in for a dark journey into the NTDS util to remove it and all remnants manually.
For 20 points i'll say that its one of the most popular articles on microsofts tech support website.

The MS article is the same as what PeteLong had provided above. Just follow it.
Don't do what tigerwong had suggested. It will get rid of the computer account, but all other AD objects related to your failed DC will not get deleted and the AD sync errors will still be there - which will leave you at where you are right now.

Thanks! The adsiedit worked perfectly. So far, no adverse effects . . .
