windows 2000 hangs at loading personal settings
Hi, I hope you can help me. I am running Windows 2000. Wehn I boot the computer, it just hangs at the point where it says loading personal settings. I have tried booting to safe mode as well and have no been able to boot to windows this way either. I searched on this subject and thought it may be a password issue but since this is a computer for home use I am pretty sure that I didn't have a password. Is there any way to get around this?
Thanks
Thanks

It could be a Gina problem.
Gina is a piece of software (dll) which intercepts logon and may do some pretty cool logon/logoff related stuff.
Some (many) software vendors are now implementing their own ginas.
Long story short, I suggest you do the following - open regedit, and rename
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR E\Microsof t\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon \GinaDll
into another name (using F2) - don't change the value, just the GinaDll to say _GinaDll
If there's no GinaDll at all, then skip to next suggestion.
Anyway, rename it, reboot, see if the problem disappeared.
Notice: your logon screen may look a little different. If the problem is solved, nice, get the dll name that was it ginaDLL's value, find what program it belongs to, uninstall that software.
Hope this helps

How do I get to the regedit. The system always just boots into Windows 2000. The only other thing I have been able to get it to do is to open the Bios, or change to safe mode. How do i get to the point where i can see the regedit? I have tried hitting many of the f keys while booting, but it always goes to the same place and hangs. Thanks
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR E\Microsof t\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon \GinaDll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR
try botting from windows 2000 CD
