Here is a method

Well any specific reason why you want to downgrade ? I am sure you should have seen the news recently that IE has got many critical flaws and MS is doing efforts to protect them. downgrading might affect that and increase the vulnerability

nazirahmed,

Well you could also uninstall the service pack and reinstall it and check what happens

thanks for the quick reply both of you.
i dont want to repair IE6, i just want to degrade to 5 or ideally 5.5 sp2. we  have an application which runs perfect with 5.5sp2, although works with IE6 but some options just dont work. i know what you guys are thinking, but at the moment i just want IE5.5 sp2, i can talk to the development guys later on..which is a long process itself.
the link of sunray2003 is bit useless at this point, cant do the inplace reinstall. i got win 2k sp4 on the machine, so there no sps left to install.

thanks sunray2003 but i am not in a position to run inplace upgrade, i have sent the link posted by pete http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html, and someone must have done 'something' by now, no news is not always good news!
nazirahmed,

OK.. as you wish.
The only thing that concerned was "Not for use with Windows 2000sr2 or Windows XP" in that IEeradictor which prevented me from posting that ..Anyways if that works , fine..

Inplace upgrade seems to be a workaround if nothing easier than that works

Keep us posted

SR

Thanks everyone. Although IEeradictor uninstalled the IE but couldnt fix the problem, as after installing IE5.5 the problem was still there. We have to run windows 2000 upgrade....!
