Windows 2K SBS and time
I am tring to get my 2K server to simply sync to a time source on the WEB. This is, apparently, something of a new concept for Microsoft: they seem to make it very hard to do! I get error 62's all over my logs.
At any rate, my w32tm -once -test -v shows I cannot get a "useable datagram" from any of the 3 sites I try, including the Navy. All syncs fail. I have a packet filer setup (seems the MS pre-defined one was configured for "TCP" not "UDP" - think we should tell them?). Nothing gets out. Just as a test , tried a third party app - it can't sync either.
Checked the other posts, found nothing matched. Help?

Thanks - but I had already tried that. Probally should have mentioned. Still no joy.
what firewalls are you running?

MS-ISA. Expert friendly, user hostile.

MY ISA config matches this post, but there are more (and different) registry entries than I have - probally because this article is for a Win2K3 server and I am using Win2K. Your earlier post (KB216734) has MS reg settings that more closely match mine. Doesn't fix the problem, unfortunetly.
If it is not possible to get a Win2K SBS server to sync time over the web, is it possible to get a client to sync and push the time to the server?

should be. are your clients using the ISA as a proxy?
If not, then set up one of your xp boxes to sync, and change the reg entries of the server to point to the xp client as it's time server

All clients use ISA as a proxy, and have the firewall client as well. Does that prevent this from working?
How in the world do others tolerate not getting accurate time? If I had several servers tring to coordinate AD with each other - what a mess that would be! Or is it because ISA 2K is such a mess and only those with SBS are stuck with it?

Thanks.
Both of these links relate to Win2003 SBS. The command line suggestions to reconfigure the time sync issue do not work in Windows 2K SBS.

more of a general FYI than a fix to the issue
did you try letting one of the clients sync with a time service (to see if it's a firewall or server issue)
