OK - I think I found it .. <br />

.. reason for Terminal Server not working - there was an Event log error 50 TermDD - and a suggestion at <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323497" rel="ugc">http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323497</a>&nbsp;worked. <br />
<br />
The email issue was due to a workstation being left on during server restart. <br />
<br />
I think the HP Insight services are optional and weren't related to this issue. <br />

- PerfLib error messages every 4-6 seconds in the application log from time to time they stop altogether, then start again maybe some days later <br />
- I stopped and disabled all of the HP Insight services<br />
- now Terminal Server does not respond<br />
- and Exchange server is behaving oddly - one user attempting to send an email got a window requesting his password<br />

Terminal Server not responding

Windows 2000 is an operating system for use on both client and server computers. It is the successor to Windows NT 4.0, and is the last version of Microsoft Windows to display the "Windows NT" designation.
