Windows 2000 Server with AD and Terminal Services
I have two servers both Windows 2000. One was the Primary the second joined the domain. With DCPROMO. My main server died bad Motherboard and really not interested in replacing it right now. The issue I have is that it was the forest root domain. The second server housed all the data and TS app mode. I wish to demote the TS server and just make it the forest root by repromo. However when I run dcpromo to remove the current domain before all the users are locked out because the forest root is gone. It gives an error that it is not the last domain member. How do I around this obstical?

If I do this do I even need to demote the server?
